Bushwalking & Hiking
There are so many places to explore on foot around the Snowy Mountains. Charlotte’s Pass is known as the gateway to superb summer back-country hiking and walks, and includes walking tracks to Mt Kosciuszko and Blue Lake which is the largest of the 5 Glacial Lakes that run along the Snowy Mountains Range. Thredbo also has a great range of walking tracks and offers a chairlift ride to Eagles Nest to help you on your way!
Mount Kosciuszko and the Main Range: the most popular is the Kosciuszko walk from the top of the Crackenback chairlift at Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko. Here visitors can walk to the the highest point in Australia while enjoying the spectacular scenery along the way.
Guided walking tours are available too, offering various levels of adventure. You can join a guided walk to the top of Mount Kosciuszko with K7 Adventures and Mt Kosciuszko Walks.
Snowy Region Visitors Centre has a range of maps available and can also help you with any other information that may be needed while walking in the Alpine area. Phone them on 02 6450 5600.
